This year, we have a record number of interns including European and International students with personalised programmes and coming from different universities. Ridley & Hall partnered with Access Tier 5 and AIESEC, the world’s largest youth led organisation, in order to be able to offer fresh graduates from all over the globe 12-months internships during which they can acquire work experience as well as experience the British life and culture. This demonstrates the extent to which Ridley & Hall values and promotes diversity in its workplace which is an essential aspect of good people management.

Tracey Armitage, the Practice Manager, says: “As Practice Manager it has been my pleasure to work with our group of summer interns. This year having a record number has meant lots of HR co-ordination but it has been well worth it. The interns have worked hard bringing the client teams up to date and covering summer holiday absences. They have process mapped tasks to support future interns and are leaving the firm in good shape. It’s very rewarding to have seen them develop and become valuable members of the teams they work with, so much so three of them are continuing working for us one day per week around their studies and will be welcome back next year.”

Ethan Turner – Intern, Litigation

“Working at Ridley & Hall has been a great experience. From taking statements and writing letters to clients to general filing, there has been plenty to keep me busy over the summer. I couldn’t have asked for a warmer welcome. Everyone has been friendly and supportive which has made for a really pleasant working environment. You don’t get that everywhere! Ridley & Hall has been a great place to work. Thank you for the opportunity.”

Sufyan Amjid – Intern, Admin

“Working here has been a great change for me, I’ve picked up new skills with the support of my friendly colleagues and I’m sure it will be a monumental contribution in furthering my career.”

Shadreck Mpande – Intern, Property

“During my time as a Property intern at Ridley & Hall, I have directly experienced how a law firm works and the processes involved in the areas of sales, purchases and re-mortgage transactions. I have been able to develop my skills and entrusted with a high degree of responsibility from the first day I arrived at the firm. The team continuously looks at ways to help interns develop and also enjoy their time by attending events such as the Law Society Dinner and the Ridley & Hall Christmas Party. The working environment is enjoyable as the staff are all welcoming and aim to make your time at Ridley & Hall as an intern enjoyable and educational.”

Aamna Mohammad – Intern, Private Clients

“Working in the private client team at Ridley & Hall has enabled me to gain a deeper understanding of the subject area and the difference the department makes to their Clients.

The private client department help people with a range of matters from making a will to administering a loved one’s estate, this can be a very emotional and stressful time for families.

I have learnt that although knowing the law is important to be a part of the team requires good people skills, empathy and understanding.”

Samera Farooq – Intern, Public Law & Family

“Having completed the first year of my Law degree at Leeds Beckett University, interning at Ridley & Hall during the summer is the perfect compliment. I am able to experience the practical side of the law demonstrating what it actually entails to work in a legal environment.

At Ridley & Hall, interning is a two-way street; as I appreciatively carry out vital clerical tasks such as opening and closing files, digital dictations, photocopying, filing and the like, I have the opportunity to work with experienced solicitors and legal secretaries at the Legal 500 firm by being involved directly in meetings with clients and attending court when the opportunity arises, enhancing my experience.

Having worked at the Public department and now in the Family department, I always look forward to coming in every day because the staff at this firm constantly have a warm and friendly approach and are always looking to make my experience as stimulating and beneficial as possible.”

Themer Slimane – Intern, Marketing & Business Development

“At Ridley & Hall, every day is different, it has been very challenging to keep up with the high standards of the firm, but everyone is friendly and willing to help which made it very easy for me to integrate the team. This firm welcomes creativity and is always willing to go the extra mile to implement new marketing and business development ideas which instilled in me a can-do attitude”

Emma Clowes – Intern, Admin

“Having just graduated from my Law Degree, I was given an invaluable opportunity to undertake an internship at Ridley & Hall. Over the past few months I have been made to feel very welcome as everybody is so friendly and I have thoroughly enjoyed gaining a real insight into the way a firm of solicitors operates in practice.”
