Jonathan Gittins

Paralegal – Family & Matrimonial

Jonathan GittinsJonathan joined Ridley & Hall Solicitors in September 2018 as a highly experienced Paralegal in the family department.

Jonathan works closely with our experienced Family Law Partner Melanie Hartley, and together they form a strong Leeds based team and can represent clients both locally and nationally.

Jonathan is a very strong advocate, having initially trained as a Barrister and completing the Graduate Diploma in Law after graduating with a BA (Hons) in Politics. He was called to the Bar in 2015.

Jonathan has a wide range of experience in all family law matters involving domestic violence, private law children, divorce and ancillary relief, as well as public law children. Jonathan also has represented clients in various Courts, in West Yorkshire and Manchester and is therefore familiar with the working practices of different courts.

Jonathan advises clients from initial instruction to representation at Court in private children and domestic violence matters, including dealing with emergency applications to obtain injunctions. Jonathan also has experience of representing clients who are respondents to such applications. Jonathan also has experience in dealing with finding of fact hearings involving serious allegations of sexual abuse and domestic violence, and with assisting clients where English is not their first language.

Jonathan is friendly and approachable, and strives to obtain the best possible outcome for clients with realistic advice, keeping matters focused, and working constructively with parties. Client care is priority, and making sure that clients are comfortable and at ease in circumstances that are sometimes difficult and trying is something for which he has been praised.

Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys cooking, reading, music and playing the guitar, as well as being a long standing, ever optimistic season ticket holder at Elland Road.
