Important news on HIPs!

Following the Government's recent announcement Home Information Packs have been suspended with effect from 21st May 2010.

Any property placed on the market from this date will not require a HIP but will still require an Energy Performance Certificate.


Stamp Duty

Properties sold between £125,000 and £250,000 are subject to Stamp Duty payable at 1%

over £250,000 to £500,000 at 3% and

from £500,000 at 4%
 

First Time Buyers

In the Budget on 24/03/2010 the Government announced a temporary tax relief for First Time Buyers so that any First Time Buyer purchasing a property after 25/03/2010 but before 25/03/2012 to a value up to £250,000 will not have to pay Stamp Duty giving a saving of up to £2500
 
The definition of a First Time Buyer is "someone who has never purchased a property before either in the UK or abroad"

To help fund this temporary tax relief the Stamp Duty tax for properties valued over £1000,000 has been raised from 4% to 5% for purchases completed after 01/04/2011
