Community Care Law relates to the provision of services to children and adults in the community by the local authority.
In particular, disabled children and adults have been the focus of a number of important legislative changes over recent years. As the profile of the country’s population continues to change due to longer life expectancy, ‘community care’ has implications for many people at some point in their lives. For this reason one of our specialist areas of work concerns the long-term funding arrangements of disabled people who require substantial amounts of care.
Ridley & Hall has a high profile in Community Care Law. The firm is regularly involved in leading cases brought to the Administrative (High) Court and the Court of Appeal. The team has successfully challenged local authority decisions on behalf of individuals, represent clients appealing NHS Continuing Health Care decisions and are involved in community care matters, especially those linked to child care work.

The team is also able to offer advise on welfare benefits. We have on our staff a highly experienced specialist adviser in this field to meet the increased demand for advice.
In addition, the Private Client team can provide expert advice and assistance on a variety of issues affecting elderly people, or carers of disabled people such as specialist wills and discretionary trusts, the implications of transferring assets, and receivership and powers of attorney.
